The makers of The Fate of the Furious have long since given up on their movies having any grounding in reality, and we love them for it.

The eighth film in the franchise — which, somehow, is not called The F8 of the Furious — sees Vin Diesel’s character, Domic Toretto, turning his back on his ‘family’, seemingly under the influence of an evil mastermind played by Charlize Theron.

Theron is so good at making people and things evil, in fact, that in this trailer, she even appears to be controlling a fleet of evil cars.

Yep, that’s right — even cars are turning against our Fast & Furious heroes in this one. Is nothing sacred?

The Fate of the Furious, starring Diesel, Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel and, ah, Helen Mirren, will pull into Australian cinemas on Thursday 12 April.
