In this touching video, Will the Lion, having spent most his life confined to a small cage, experiences being outside for the first time. Eagerly pawing at the earth, the big cat exhibits almost kitten like behaviour as he frolics around his new pen and rolls in the grass.

Rescued in 2006, the video was released four years after Will had passed, having spent his last five years in Rancho dos Gnomos Santuário.

Sanctuary founder, Marcos Pompeo, had this to say of Wills time spent there:

“He had five years of tranquility before he died. Here he had the opportunity to interact with other lions. He loved to lie in grass and look at the sky. He was a very happy lion.”
