When Michelle Payne said women can do anything, she didn’t have this in mind.

A (presumably drunk) woman is in big trouble after pushing a senior police officer over at Melbourne Cup yesterday.

The 25-year-old sent Acting Superintendent Steven Cooper flying backwards into a flower bed at Flemington Racecourse while he was in the middle of a media cross about crowd behaviour — and Channel 7 caught it all on camera.

After the officer fell the woman turned to the cameras and giggled, and was then escorted away by police.

Acting Superintendent Steven Cooper told Channel 7 he saw the woman approaching and wondered what she wanted.

“Very odd behaviour. She walked up to me and I thought ‘what’s she doing, is she just come over say hello or something … Clearly not,” he said.

Apparently, witnesses heard the women asking ‘what do I need to do to get on the news’ before the incident.

The woman has been charged with assaulting police and will appear in court later this month.
