It’s Australia Day, so let’s take a look back at our favourite take on Advance Australia Fair — Adam Hills’ working class anthem.

Hills first performed his version of the anthem — which is just the lyrics to Advance Australia Fair sung to the tune of Jimmy Barnes’ Working Class Man, with that signature full-throated Barnsey enthusiasm — at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

In other words, Hills gave us a superior take on our national anthem eight years ago, and it somehow still hasn’t been adopted as the official version.

We can’t rest until this is being performed by Aussie swimmers on medal podiums and kids at school assemblies, and absolutely bringing the house down every time.

Change starts with us, of course, so this Australia Day, if you do sing the national anthem, make sure you sing the right version.
