The Hanhwa Eagles, currently running last in the Korean Baseball Organisation, have recruited ‘fanbots’ to fill out the stands.

The robots are intended to take the place of fans who can’t make it to the games themselves — their faces are superimposed on the fanbots, who can also lead cheers at important moments of the game.

The best part? The fanbots can even do the wave!

“It’s a pretty neat idea,” Eagles pitcher Andrew Albers says in the video introducing the fanbots, which you can watch above. “It gets the crowd into it and really helps them get involved.”

“Most importantly,” the team adds at the end of the video, “the fan and fanbot made victory together.”
