A woman who suffered severe burns in a house fire at Yamba on the NSW north coast has died in hospital.

A 62-year-old woman has died from burns after a fire destroyed her home on the NSW north coast.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze at a retirement village on Fuchsia Street, Yamba, just before midnight on Sunday.

They arrived to find the relocatable home well alight.

Neighbours were using hoses to try to extinguish the fire, a NSW Fire & Rescue spokesman said on Monday.

Firefighters were able to enter the small two-bedroom home and rescue the woman.

She was airlifted to hospital in Brisbane but died several hours later.

Police are investigating but say the fire does not seem suspicious.
