Brisbane Broncos have signed 24-year-old prop James Gavet after Wests Tigers agreed to an early release from his contract.

Wests Tigers confirmed on Monday the Club has agreed to an early release of prop James Gavet.

Gavet is heading north to Brisbane Broncos, joining the Club in time for the start of the 2015 pre-season.

The 24-year-old front-rower requested to be released from the final year of his Wests Tigers contract as he wished to move interstate, with the Broncos providing him with the chance to do so.

Gavet took to the field for Wests Tigers 12 times during the 2014 season, making his club debut in round one at ANZ Stadium.

He made his NRL debut for Canterbury against Brisbane in round 23, 2013, his only game for the Bulldogs.

Gavet’s signing comes days after Brisbane announced young gun Corey Oates secured a two-year NRL contract extension as momentum builds at the club under new coach Wayne Bennett.
