It’s the time for electronica as Chet Faker leads the ARIA nominations with nine, while Sheppard are a close second with seven nominations.

Chet Faker leads the race for the 2014 ARIA awards with nine nominations, proving this truly is the time for electronic music.

The electronic artist also scooped three ARIA Artisan awards at the awards nominations in Sydney on Tuesday.

Faker walked away with the coveted 2014 ARIA Producer Of The Year award while Eric J Dubowsky won the Engineer Of The Year award for his work on Faker’s album and Tin & Ed also won Best Cover Art for Built On Glass.

Last year, Flume paved the way for electronic artists and producers by winning four awards and being the first non-singer to win the Male Artist of the Year award.

This year, Faker, aka Nicholas Murphy, is leading the charge with nominations including Album Of The Year for his record Built On Glass, Best Male Artist and Breakthrough Artist and even a joint nomination with Flume for their single Drop The Game in the Best Dance Release category.

Behind Faker are Brisbane band Sheppard with seven nominations, reluctant pop star Sia with six, Dan Sultan with five – and all three will compete with Faker for Album of the Year.

Aussie pop darlings, Iggy Azalea and Five Seconds Of Summer, have four nominations each, alongside unlikely bedfellows, rock band Violent Soho.

The 2014 ARIA Awards will take place on November 26 at The Star, Sydney.
