An 80-year-old masseur could be charged with further offences after more women contacted police claiming to have been abused at his Sunshine Coast stall.

Sunshine Coast detectives have received further complaints from women claiming to have been sexually abused after an elderly Queensland masseur was charged with rape and sexual assault.

The 80-year-old was charged over two alleged assaults at his massage stall at the Sunshine Coast farmers’ market in June 2011 and August this year.

In the lead-up to his September 24 court appearance, detectives have been investigating a number of other complaints regarding the same massage stall.

A police spokeswoman would not say how many additional women had come forward, but said the appeal for more witnesses was continuing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Edwards reassured former customers of the man that any complaint would be treated seriously.

“We can also help in assisting them with referrals to support agencies should that be required,” he said in a written statement.
