The occupants of a home gutted by fire in the inner-Brisbane suburb of West End are lucky to have escaped unscathed.

All occupants of an inner-Brisbane home have been accounted for after firefighters were called to a blaze that engulfed their West End property.

Emergency crews were called to Granville Street about 4.15pm on Thursday.

The street was closed and police redirected traffic in the area.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said two neighbouring properties had been evacuated and firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to battle the blaze.

Four crews were at the property but the fire was extinguished by 5.01pm.
