A man armed with a handgun pulled off a brazen daylight robbery on the Gold Coast, making off with cash from a busy convenience store.

Queensland police are hunting an armed motorcyclist who brazenly robbed a busy store in daylight hours.

Police say a number of people were in the Gold Coast convenience store when it was held up by a man with a gun about 4.30pm on Friday.

The thief walked in to the Nerang shop wearing a blue motorcycle helmet with a clear visor and refused to remove it when he as asked to by the attendant.

He pulled out a handgun and forced the employee to empty the contents of the till into a bag, before driving off on a blue motorbike.

No one was hurt.
