Lewis Taylor, taken by the Brisbane Lions with pick No.28 in last year’s AFL draft, has been named the Rising Star nominee for round nine.

Bottom-placed Brisbane have earned their second Rising Star nomination of the 2014 AFL season, with Lewis Taylor given the nod after round nine.

North Melbourne thumped the listless Lions by 87 points at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, but Taylor was among the visitors’ best with 20 possessions.

“You can always count on Lewy to have a red-hot crack. He’s a self-motivator and his enthusiasm is infectious,” Lions coach Justin Leppitsch said of pick No.28 in last year’s draft.

“To be able to slot straight into senior footy in his first season on an AFL list is a testament to the hard work and effort Lewy has put in since arriving at the club.”
