St Kilda have named Billy Longer for his club debut in Sunday’s AFL round-four game against Adelaide.
Former Brisbane ruckman Billy Longer will make his debut for St Kilda on Sunday after the Saints’ No.1 big man Tom Hickey broke down at training.
Hickey suffered a corked calf during Friday’s session ahead of the their round-four clash with Adelaide at Etihad Stadium.
The 20-year-old Longer played nine games with Brisbane behind Matthew Leuenberger before joining the Saints, who had traded their top ruckman Ben McEvoy to Hawthorn.
“We expect Billy to compete really strongly in the ruck,” St Kilda coach Alan Richardson told saints.com.au on Friday.
“There’ll be times when he goes forward and we’ll need him to play his role there, which includes playing as a big man and defending really strongly.”
