A Queensland man has been charged with stabbing a 17-year-old woman, and a young man who tried to help her.

A Queensland man will face court accused of stabbing a young woman in the chest before turning his weapon on a young man who tried to intervene.

The woman, 17, and the male victim, 18, were stabbed after a heated argument at a Mackay home about 1.40am on Monday, police say.

The young man suffered several wounds to his thigh and both victims were taken to hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

A man, 31, will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday on charges including burglary, assault, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and assaulting police.
