A man who sent a Queensland town into lockdown after claiming he had a car full of explosives will face court on Friday.

The 37-year-old gave himself up on Thursday afternoon, after a 10-hour stand off with police at Canungra in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The man had barricaded himself inside his car, which he claimed was packed with explosives.

He’s been charged with threatening violence, bomb hoax and going armed as to cause fear.

He will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
