Desperate Queensland have recalled pace duo Ben Cutting and Luke Feldman for their crucial Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia.
Pace duo Ben Cutting and Luke Feldman are set to return for Queensland’s crucial Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia starting at the WACA Ground on Friday.
Cutting has been brought back into the Bulls side after missing the drawn clash with NSW in Sydney this week due to a hamstring niggle while Feldman passed a fitness test in Brisbane on Monday to be included in the 12-man squad.
The pace pair, who both boast over 100 first class wickets, come into the side in place of injured Matthew Gale and young leg-spinner Cameron Boyce.
The decision to omit Boyce is a surprising one given he is the equal-leading wicket-taker in the competition with 19 scalps but selectors feel Nathan Hauritz’s off-spin is more suited to the conditions in Perth.
The Bulls are winless following their first four Shield matches and sit bottom of the ladder going into the clash against the Warriors.
WA trounced Victoria by an innings and 38 runs in Perth on Monday with former Test player Marcus North the top run-scorer in the competition with 589 at 117.80 including three centuries.
Queensland: James Hopes (capt), Ben Cutting, Luke Feldman, Peter Forrest, Nathan Hauritz, Chris Hartley, Usman Khawaja, Chris Lynn, Alister McDermott, Greg Moller, Michael Neser, Nathan Reardon (12th man to be named).
