Ian Stenlake is dusting off his dancing shoes and coming to Brisbane, writes Laura Brodnik.

Luck is set to be less of a lady and more of a show for Ian Stenlake in 2014.

The veteran stage and screen staris set to reprise the role of Skye Masterson in Harvest Rain Theatre Company’s production of Guys and Dolls, alongside his Oklahoma costar Angela Harding. After playing the role in Melbourne and Sydney productions in 2008, Stenlake has promised audiences a different Skye this time around when he takes to the stage in March.

“I will start as if I haven’t done the character before because I’m older now. I’ve got a whole lot of different life experience to draw on,” Stenlake says. “When I first got the opportunity to be in Guys and Dolls I was really surprised at how funny it is and how it’s such an intense love story between more than one couple.Stenlake says he is most looking forward to performing his favourite Guys and Dolls tune, Luck Be A Lady Tonight for a Brisbane crowd and will join the cast for an intense two week rehearsal period before opening night.

“Harvest Rain is a company with an amazing foundation so if anybody can put a show together in two weeks flat they can, they showed that with Oklahoma,” Stenlake says.“It’s unique that Brisbane gets to see a fully realised musical in a concert hall which is slightly different to a lyric sized theatre.”

Stenlake and Harding will be joined by Daryl Somers as Nicely Nicely Johnson, musical theatre legend Wayne Scott Kermond as Nathan Detroit and Liz Buchanan as the gorgeous Miss Adelaide.
