Brisbane’s most passionate businesswomen gathered by the river with cocktails in hand to create change for 700,000 young Aussies with high care needs.

This year’s Y Women cocktail event, held at the Stokehouse Q in South Bank, raised a grand total of $19,891 for young people in need.

That’s even more than last year’s successful event, which raised almost $14,000.

Speakers at the event included Olympian Lisa Curry and Kat Lambert. Kat’s partner, Todd Winther, is a young person with high care needs (cerebral palsy); Todd is a resident at Youngcare Wesley Mission Queensland Apartments at Sinnamon Park.

Last year, Kat told the story of her relationship with Todd — and the prejudices they’ve been forced to overcome, including her own — in two must-read blog posts.
