The pirates returned to celebrate QPAC’s 30th anniversary!

Three decades after The Pirates of Penzance opened QPAC, the venue celebrated its 30th birthday with Harvest Rain’s fantastic new production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s beloved classic.

Simon Gallaher, who starred as Frederic when the show played QPAC 30 years ago, was in the director’s chair this time around. This time around, the role of Frederic was played by talented newcomer Billy Bourchier.

TV personality Andrew O’Keefe took on the iconic role of the Pirate King in the new production; he was joined on-stage by Gold Logie winner John Wood as Major-General Stanley, musical theatre legend Nancye Hayes as Ruth, and newcomer Georgina Hopson as Mabel.

The Pirates of Penzance played at QPAC Concert Hall for one weekend only (March 19-22).
