If you are like most of the smart Mummy population, statistically by the end of this week the Christmas gifts will be all purchased and nestled safely at the back of the closet. You can almost hear the carollers starting to sing Jingle Bells to bring on the season!

You have found a place where you think the kids can’t find their presents, but they do. Then they pretend they haven’t found them and although you quite possibly know they have, you all pretend otherwise and everyone act’s surprised on Christmas day.

That’s how it worked in my house. Sorry Mum.

But I’d love to tell you about a lovely little event I am involved in celebrating Christmas and at the same time raising funds for a charity close to my heart, the Pyjama Foundation.

It’s called Jingle Buzz and it’s a chance to treat your kids to a good old Christmas Pantomime.

Hosted by yours truly, JingleBuzz will present parents and children with the panto, ‘Once Upon a Christmas’.

It will feature 100 pint-sized singers, dancers, actors and actresses from across South-East Queensland and tells an enchanting story about a journey through wonderland in search of the Christmas Star.

Once Upon a Christmas is the creation of Kim Bowkett, principal of the award-winning Theatre & Dance studio in Coorparoo. She has been in the industry for more than 30 years and continually grooming performers for professional productions all around the world. Recently, three of her mini stars secured roles in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at QPAC. Kim has become an expert at producing musical theatre for children, by children. For 25 years she was the creative director for ‘Christmas in Storyland’ at Brisbane’s City Hall. Kim has travelled the world and knows what it takes to produce a first-class musical theatre production.

“It’s time for Brisbane to welcome a new Christmas tradition and enjoy a modernised musical theatre panto,” says Kim.

With three back to back shows, the day-long JingleBuzz event has been created to capture the magic of Christmas with a unique festive experience. Families will not only have the opportunity to see the show, but soak up the atmosphere of a traditional European Christmas Village Fair featuring boutique market stalls, kiddy rides, face painting and yummy treats. Just three days out from Christmas, the atmosphere is sure to be a buzz!

Tickets to the show are $28pp, with proceeds going to The Pyjama Foundation. Plus, everyone who purchases a ticket goes in the draw to win a Springfree Trampoline.

Date: Sunday, December 22, 2013
