The Queensland Firebirds will make their first public appearance since winning the ANZ Championship at Westfield Garden City tonight.
The Firebirds made netball history on the weekend by pulling off a stunning 69-67 win against the NSW Swifts in a double extra time thriller, making them the first team ever to win back-to-back championships.
They’re also the only team to have won three titles in the ANZ Championship era.
They’ll be basking in championship glory when they appear at Westfield Garden City tonight (Thursday 4 August). From 6pm, they’ll be taking part in a Q&A session with radio personalities Ash, Kip and Luttsy in front of Big W on Level 2.
After the Q&A, they’ll be sticking around for a signing session. They’ll also be giving away a signed netball!
If you can’t make the Q&A tonight, no worries — you’ll have another chance to see them in the city this Saturday 6 August.
Their tickertape parade will commence at 12 noon, running from the top of Queen Street Mall to King George Square, and culminating with a presentation in King George Square at 12:30pm.
Immediately after that presentation, from approximately 1:15pm, they’ll be signing autographs for fans in King George Square.
They’ll also be attending The Coffee Club Queensland Firebirds Gala Dinner and Award Night that evening — that’s a private ticketed event, but you can secure your seat at firebirds.net.au/gala-dinner.
It’s the Firebirds’ city right now — we’re just living in it.
