Get your gift wrapping on for charity

Are you handy with scissors and string? Then a slew of charities in Brisbane could use your help behind the gift wrapping table. Customers at the Logan Hyperdome, Westfield Carindale and Westfield Garden City will have the chance to visit the Cancer Council Gift Wrap booth after a busy day of shopping and, for a donation per wrapped gift, will have them wrapped by the wonderful volunteers. Collectors for Christmas Bowl Appeal

The Christmas Bowl Appeal is urgently looking for collectors to help them out with this important cause. The not-for-profit charity is looking for responsible volunteers to take part in a number of bucket collections in December to raise funds for food rations for Burmese Refugees this Christmas.

24 Days of Christmas

The Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland needs your help.  In the lead up to Christmas many activities will be available at Westfield North Lakes, ranging from Ginger Man Decorating to Paddington Bear meet and greets and so much more. They need volunteer support daily to assist with Westfield North Lakes fun Christmas kids activities.

Ronald McDonald House is one charity that is always in need of volunteers, so what better time to start then Christmas? Each Ronald McDonald House, Family Room and Retreat relies on a large team of volunteers who assist with a range of activities. They’re the welcoming smile at the front door, the supportive shoulder when visitors feel unsteady or the cup of tea or coffee when they need to relax for a short while.These volunteers cover a huge range of activities and the foundation is always grateful for anyone who can spare their time in any capacity. Meals on Wheels deliver meals daily to people who can’t leave their homes and they could do with a little extra help over the festive season. The program runs all over Australia so you’re guaranteed to find a meal run in your area. If you have a car and a driver’s licence, why not volunteer to bring food and some Christmas cheer to people in your area?

Prepare food hampers with The Smith Family

Each Christmas, The Smith Family distributes tens of thousands of food hampers to needy families. These hampers are supplied, delivered and packed by volunteers – the more, the merrier.

St Vincent De Paul Society

St Vinnie’s isn’t just good for picking up vintage bargains. Each year, the St Vincent De Paul Society assists tens of thousands of underprivileged families, particularly at Christmas time. The charity requires donations of money and clothing for their Christmas Appeal, but they also require volunteers to sort these items and deliver them.
