Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport welcomes its first flight in time for Christmas.

Today Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport opened its doors and welcomed its first regular passenger service, the QuantasLink flight.

The airport is starting with double daily return flights to Sydney with through flights to Melbourne, Hobart, and Perth.

With more routes opening in January 2015 connecting Brisbane to regional Queensland, the new western airport is sure to be a game changer for Toowoomba locals looking to travel for both work and leisure.

It is the first privately-funded public airport in Australia and the first public airport to open in 50 years.

As well as boosting tourism and supporting local businesses, Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport will be the first airport in the world using Wagners’ award-winning Earth Friendly Concrete (EFC), which is the lowest carbon, cement-free geopolymer concrete available.
