All around Brisbane, there are beautiful places and spaces, tucked away and sometimes forgotten, just waiting for a special event to be celebrated there. The Brisbane Club is one such place and is actually one of Brisbane’s premier private clubs that is available to non-members for functions and special events.

In this day and age, not many establishments stand the test of time. But The Brisbane Club has upheld a tradition of excellence since 1903 and has recently celebrated the 26th anniversary of being in their current building.

The club has always had an emphasis on friendship and this unique meeting place plays host to memorable occasions and activities, catering to the professional and social interests of members and guests.

If you’re looking for something special for a wedding, an anniversary, a function or a work Christmas party, don’t overlook this little gem. Aside from the stylish space, the food and wine on offer is exceptional. Different members of the kitchen team have represented Australia in World Skills, Australian Young Chef and Apprentice of the Year competitions, and won the 2014 Nestle Gold Chefs Hat. The kitchen team can create a menu to suit any budget or theme for a private dinner or event.

The Brisbane Club is different to many other private clubs due to the many awards and experiences that the kitchen team have participated in, allowing them a level of expertise that’s reflected in the food that is served at club functions. Pastry chef Rodney Turnbull was one of two chefs selected from Queensland to spend a week at the Valrhona School of Chocolate in Tokyo, which was a huge honour.

More interested in the wine? The Brisbane Club was inducted into the ‘Best Club Wine List Hall of Fame’ in 2013 following three consecutive years on top of the Gourmet Travellers Australia’s Best Club Wine List, and their oldest bottle of wine is dated from 1864. At any given time, there are approximately 10,000 bottles of wine in the impressive cellar, sourced from Queensland through to Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, Chilli, Spain, Italy, France and the UK.

The Brisbane Club has six function rooms to choose from, accommodating an intimate gathering in the Cellar or a gala dinner in the main dining room, and is conveniently located in the central CBD. The Club itself features solid mahogany furniture, antique silver, chandeliers, stained glass windows and renowned artworks.

Ylana Baxter, Functions Manager shared this, “One of the most memorable events that has been hosted at The Brisbane Club was the Duke of Edinburgh Australia Awards on November 5 2014. The evening was attended by His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO. Also in attendance was His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland. The evening was a particularly memorable occasion as Prince Edward accompanied his father Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, to Australia in 1988 and was onsite to assist his father at the official opening of the new premises of The Brisbane Club. One of the function rooms at the club is called the Edinburgh Room after this occasion.”

So if you book a function room here, know that you are (almost) among royalty.

Mr and Mrs Mactaggart were married this July and celebrated their love-filled day at The Brisbane Club and we asked them what their experience was like.

“We had many comments on the great food, and those with special dietary requirements were very impressed with how they were catered to. We would also like to thank the bar and table waiting staff for their seamless efficiency, fantastic service ethic, and consideration to all guests. Everyone had a great night, and the thank you’s are rolling in. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and felt very special on our wedding day as we were able to leave everything in very capable hands.”

Often at a venue, it will be the staff that make or break your experience and a Past President recently said, “I consider the food and wine to be second to none and I much prefer the genteel and placid dining atmosphere of the club to almost anywhere else is town. I particularly enjoy the personable and friendly attention provided by our long term staff.”

With six beautiful ambient function rooms to choose from, award-winning food and wine on offer and a team who endeavour to make your experience unforgettable, The Brisbane Club seems like an excellent choice for your next event.
