New South Wales professional Grant Thomas made the most of yesterday’s weather conditions to claim the 2014 Wantima Pro Am on the fourth day of the bmag Week of Golf.

Thomas carded a five under par 65 to finish one shot ahead of Peter Shaw, Michael Wright and Max McCardle.

This was the first time Thomas had played the Wantima layout, and he was pleasantly surprised with how the course was presented.

“The Wantima Country Club have done a great job in getting the course presented the way that they did for the Pro Am today and I congratulate everyone involved on a job well done,” Thomas said. “I was lucky enough to make a few more putts today, which hasn’t been the case for the past few days, and although I may be out of the race for the bmag Week of Golf, it would be a nice way to cap off the week with another win at Royal Queensland tomorrow.”

After four rounds, Anthony Brown still leads the bmag Week of Golf, though unfortunately he lost a little of his lead after a two over par 72. Brown will take a one shot lead into the final round over Steven Jeffress, while Brett Rankin is a further shot back in third.

The bmag Week of Golf comes to a climactic end tomorrow with the Royal Queensland Cup. Professionals will be vying for the $40,000 in prize money on offer, while a new bmag Week of Golf Champion will be crowned — and awarded 500,000 Frequent Flyer points!
