From this week the iconic Streets Beach and stream area at South Bank will undergo works to improve visitor experience.

The popular South Bank beach and stream area will be revitalised to improve the experience of beach-goers.

The redevelopment will include installing new paving, decking and seating around the beach; new handrails and ladders in wet areas; and reshaping the stream and installing new interactive play elements for children.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says the new developments will enhance the assets of this well-loved part of Brisbane.

“South Bank is one of Brisbane’s most popular destinations, attracting an estimated 10 million visitors each year,” he said. “Upgrading Streets Beach and the stream will not only help cater to continually increasing visitor numbers, it will also ensure that South Bank remains at the forefront for delivering year round, world-class experiences for visitors.”

Parts of the park will be closed to ensure public safety during the works.
