Hundreds of eager Apple fans lined up on Edward Street today for stores the official opening.

When it comes to enthusiasm , Apple fans are at the top of the tree.

More than 500 people were lined up ready and waiting when the new Apple store on Edward Street officially opened it’s doors today. Many of the people in line were so excited by the swag of new tech available that they camped out on the street the night before, lining up from 7pm on Thursday night to ensure they would be the first one’s through the door the next day.The Edward Street location is Apple’s first Brisbane CBD store and follows an extensive restoration project to house it in the historic MacArthur Chambers.

Despite some customers waiting more than 15 hours to get into the store spirits were high in the waiting line as they counted down the hours. When the sun began to beat down on the waiting fans Apple employees handed out black umbrellas to shade them from the hot rays and bottles of water to keep them hydrated. When the doors were finally flung open at 10am the early birds were rewarded with a commemorative Apple t-shirt, with the first 1000 people through the doors snagging the free gift.

The new Apple store is the fourth and largest one in Queensland and features the Apple Genius Bar and the full range of Apple products. It also offers personalised services and workshops featuring local artists, musicians and film makers.
