Get multiple quotes that list the cost for each part of the job including service fee, materials etc.
This way you can see what they are charging and will know if any unexpected costs pop up later. If you are using an online quote gathering service, make sure you are receiving quotes from qualified and licensed tradesmen and women.

Ask your friends and family if they have encountered a good tradie lately. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, if a tradie has bad reviews move on.
