In February this year the Modern family cast will be taking a trip down under, we think the cast should stop by Brisbane and here is why.

It has been revealed that Qantas will be flying the cast and crew form the popular comedy show Modern Family to Australia this February.

The Pritchett – Dunphy – Tucker clan will be flying Qantas thanks to a new deal the airline has struck with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products.

The award-winning family show will be filming the vacation episode in Australia for two weeks .

Modern Family producer Steve Levitan commented on the excitement surrounding the trip.

“We are so excited about our trip down under and we promise not to do any ‘down under’ jokes.”  (We will believe it when we see it Steve)

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce believes the partnership is a perfect fit.

“We are excited to partner with Twentieth Century Fox, to promote what Australia has to offer to the world through this special holiday episode. The humour of the show is a great fit with Australian’s own.”

Rumours are circling about where filming will take place and where the cast will be staying.

Since Brisbane was recently voted Australia’s coolest city by Lonely Planet we think Brisbane would be the perfect place for a Modern Family vacation.

Here are 7 reasons we think The Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan should spend some time in Brisbane during their Australian getaway.

1. South Bank

The whole family will love soaking up the sun at South Bank, going for a swim at the beach followed by a sky high view of Brisbane in the Brisbane Wheel. The whole family can grab a delicious lunch at the South Side Diner or the adults could enjoy some delicious Sangria at the new Sangria bar.

2. Cultural delights

Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Manny (Rico Rodriguez)  can soak up the arts at the Cultural Centre and catch a viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. They could also head over to the Powerhouse and enjoy the World Theatre festival.

3. Markets

Gloria (Sofia Vergara)  and Claire ( Julie Bowen)  will love hitting the markets to find some great buys and indulge in delicious food. There are so many markets to choose from – The Boundary Street Markets, the Nundah Markets, Kuraby Farmers Markets.

4. Theme Parks
Luke (Nolan Gould) and Lilly (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) will have a great time hitting the Theme Parks just a short drive away at the Gold Coast.

5. Museums and Galleries

The Queensland Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art are sure to interest Alex (Ariel Winter), she can check out the amazing Cai Guo-Qiang: Falling Back to Earth display. Also Luke and Lilly can have fun learning about dinosaurs at the Queensland Museum.

6. Nightlife

Hayley (Sarah Hyland)  is sure to be impressed by the range of nightlife Brisbane has to offer. She can venture out in Fortitude Valley to Alfred and Constance or hit up the more chilled scene at one of Brisbane’s bars like Super Whatnot or Archive Beer Boutique.

7. Golf Galore

Jay (Ed O’Neil) can improve his swing at Brisbane’s great new Golf Facility - Golf Central and Phil (Ty Burrell) can improve his chances of impressing Jay by grabbing a lesson.
