Brisbane is unlikely to see a speedy completion of the awaited cross-river bridge from Kangaroo Point to the CBD that will become another of the many bridges we have seen built over recent years.

Which part of Brisbane would you like to access via on of our many bridges? The Newman government has confirmed they have no plans to fund projects such as the cross-river pedestrian bridge.

The Brisbane City Council included the structure as a priority project in the 2013 City Centre Master Plan, but unfortunately the council’s hopes of delivering the bridge within five years are dwindling as it is dependent on state government funding.

A proposed cross-river pedestrian bridge between Bulimba and Teneriffe is also at risk, with infrastructure committee chairman considering a community petition.

Brisbane Clem 7 tunnel was sold in September, after more than two years of being placed in receivership.

Another cross-river bridge between Toowong and West End was also in discussion.
