The Queensland Cabaret Festival is returning in 2017 with an impressive line-up of international and Australian performers.

Star of stage and screen Alan Cumming, iconic Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly, Grammy Award-winning jazz guitarist Bill Frisell, Broadway star Sierra Boggess and Cat Empire frontman Felix Riebl will headline this year’s festival.

Brisbane’s fourth annual celebration of cabaret will be spread between Brisbane Powerhouse, QPAC and the Queensland Multicultural Centre in June.

Festival founder Alison St Ledger expects this year’s diverse festival to bring in audiences who might not have had any interest in cabaret before.

“I am thrilled with the growth of the Queensland Cabaret Festival over the last four years, and with such an incredibly diverse range of acts this year, I’m confident we will attract new fans to the cabaret genre,” she says.

“The festival offers Brisbane audiences a truly unique opportunity to experience the enchanting world of cabaret first-hand.”

Other highlights of the festival include Seven on Sinatra, which will see seven of Brisbane’s best songstresses performing the music of Frank Sinatra; Thank You For The Music, QPAC Choir’s celebration of ABBA; and In The Warm Room: The Music of Kate Bush 1978-1980, the latest tribute show from the team behind The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust.

The Queensland Cabaret Festival will run from Thursday 1 June to Thursday 15 June. For more info and tickets, visit queenslandcabaretfestival.com.au.
