When the sun sets this summer, the stars will come out at no less than three outdoor cinemas in Brisbane.
Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas in South Bank Parklands have already announced their 2016 program, and New Farm Park’s Moonlight Cinema is expected to follow suit shortly.
Now comes word that Brisbane is getting a third open-air cinema this summer.
It’s called Sunset Cinema, and it’s already a thing in North Sydney, Canberra and Wollongong, but now it’s coming to Queensland.
The fully licenced pop-up cinema will be located at the scenic Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, and you’ll be able to grab drinks at the MadFish Wine Bar, which will be serving up premium West Australian MadFish wines and bubbly alongside 4 Pines craft beers (Pale Ale, Kolsch and Hefenweizen) and cider.
The Brisbane program has yet to be announced, but if it’s anything like the Melbourne season, it’ll focus largely on recent releases like The Secret Life of Pets, The Magnificent Seven, Bad Moms and Captain Fantastic. (There is one classic film on the Melbourne program — Dirty Dancing — that we hope will find its way up here.)
Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 13 December. For more info, visit sunsetcinema.com.au.
