Community and Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon is bringing his live Harmontown podcast to Brisbane.
The Emmy Award-winning TV writer started Harmontown as a monthly live comedy show in Los Angeles, but it became a weekly podcast after he was controversially fired from his own show, Community, after its third season. (In a bizarre twist, he was re-hired for the show’s fifth and sixth seasons, but by that point, Harmontown was here to stay.)
Co-hosted by Jeff B Davis, the show tends to feature celebrity guests — including the likes of Robin Williams, Patton Oswalt, Jason Sudeikis, Dana Carvey, Eric Idle, Rob Corddry and Aubrey Plaza — and Harmon’s unfiltered commentaries on society, entertainment and his personal life squeezed in between live Dungeons & Dragons sessions.
The show’s unusual blend of stand-up and self-help, which was featured in the celebrated documentary Harmontown, has earned it a devoted international fanbase.
Yesterday, we reported that Harmontown will feature at Sydney’s inaugural Bingefest.
Now, fans in Brisbane will have the chance to see Harmon, Davis and popular series regular Spencer Crittenden live on stage.
Harmontown will come to The Triffid (7-9 Stratton Street, Newstead) on Thursday 15 December. Tickets go on sale this Thursday 12 October at 9am at thetriffid.com.au.
