Around 25 comedy shows will hit stages around the city for the inaugural Bris Funny Fest this month.
Festival organiser Kath Marvelley says the festival will celebrate the local comedy scene, and give a range of new and veteran talents a chance to shine.
“Bris Funny Fest is a great excuse for everyone to grab their friends and a drink and enjoy some clever, quick-witted, quirky, silly and acerbic comedy,” she says.
“We’ve created a comedy pick’n'mix — there’s stand-up, sketch and improvised comedy. We have something for everyone’s comedy palate.”
Festival highlights include Cool Story Bro, where improv and story-time collide, and Tarnished Tiaras, which features an all-female line-up of performers alongside MC Michael Connell.
There’s also ImproMafia’s Double Shot Impro, which mixes improvised comedy and competition, and the Crosstown Comedy Club, which showcases a line-up of comedians including local favourite Damien Power.
Bris Funny Fest is on at Saccharomyces Beer Cafe, Heya Bar, Metro Arts, The Milk Factory, The Bearded Lady, Crosstown Public House, Fitzy’s Loganholme, The Junk Bar, Red Bay Brewery and Room to Play Independent Theatre from Thursday 11 August to Saturday 27 August.
