Karen Fukuhara, who stars as Katana in the heavily anticipated Suicide Squad movie, is coming to Brisbane for Supanova 2016.

In the film, Fukuhara plays the masked assassin Katana, a fearless samurai tasked to protect Rick Flag, a tactical expert and the leader of the Suicide Squad mission.

Katana isn’t exactly a household name, as far as DC Comics characters go, but she’s certainly known to hardcore fans of the comic books, having first appeared way back in 1983 in The Brave and the Bold #200.

For that matter, Fukuhara isn’t exactly a household name either — while she has appeared on numerous shows in Japan, Suicide Squad appears to be her first role in an American production — but her star looks set to rise after the release of the film this week.

Fukuhara joins a squad of previously announced Supanova guests that includes Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle), Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars), Jason Mewes (Jay & Silent Bob) and Claudia Wells (Back to the Future).

Supanova Pop Culture Expo will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 11-13 November; tickets are available now at supanova.com.au.
