Tamborine Mountain will be invaded by Scarecrows this September, during the annual Scarecrow Festival.
Running from Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October, the festival is expected to attract hundreds of visitors from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, New South Wales and all across the Scenic Rim.
Designed to celebrate Tamborine’s laidback country lifestyle, it not only boasts a 17 kilometre Scarecrow Discovery Trail, but live entertainment, heaps of kid’s activities and a range of local stalls too.
Every year hundreds of local businesses, associations, schools and families all compete in various categories to create the best scarecrow display of the weekend, and for their chance to win great prize money.
Check out all the different scarecrows – from tradie scarecrows to farmers and clowns – you’ll be sure to find one you like!
Because it’s so long, it’s best to follow the Scarecrow Trail at a leisurely place so you can really enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes Tamborine Mountain has to offer.
The competitions aren’t confined to Scarecrows either, there’s also colouring and poetry comps, as well as arts and crafts, entertainment and performance art.
For the first time ever too, the festival fun will continue on Saturday 1 October at the Sportsground Complex in Long Road from 12 noon to 7pm, including live entertainment from the Round Mountain Girls Band and games like Human Bowls, Byron Bay Bubble Football, Jumping Castles, Stalls and much more.
Scarecrow winners will be announced on Sunday afternoon, with prizes and awards being handed out at Fortitude Brewery in Tamborine.
