Meet the author of the bestselling memoir Wild and the novels Tiny Beautiful Things, Brave Enough and Torch at the State Library of Queensland.

The Brisbane Writer’s Festival and the State Library of Queensland will bring this acclaimed author to town in August.

Aside from her bestselling books, Strayed is the co-host, along with Steve Almond, of the WBUR podcast Dear Sugar Radio, which originated with her popular Dear Sugar advice column on The Rumpus.

The Portland author’s books have been translated into forty languages around the world. Her essays have been published in The Best American Essays, the New York Times, the Washington Post Magazine, Vogue, Salon, The Sun, and Tin House, capturing the attention of readers worldwide.

Strayed’s Wild was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as her first selection for the resurrection of her Book Club 2.0. “I was on the edge of my seat. . . . It is just a wild ride of a read . . . stimulating, thought-provoking, soul-enhancing,” Winfrey said.

The Oscar-nominated movie adaptation of Wild starred Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. Nia Vardalos is also adapting and starring in an adaptation of Tiny Beautiful Things off-Broadway this November.

Cheryl Strayed will be at the State Library of Queensland from 6.30pm on Tuesday August 9. Tickets are available at
