Observe a great artist at work as Japan’s Yuko Nagayama showcases her talent on the Sunshine Coast.
From June 5 to June 12, internationally acclaimed Japanese artist and teacher Yuko Nagayama will be exhibiting and creating new artwork at Sekisui’s Design Centre.
The Artist in Residence program has been organised by Sekisui House Australia in collaboration with new media design group Fish Lane Studios Limited, Australian Knowledge Management Group, Arts Queensland and the Sunshine Coast Council.
The program will include a workshop on the final two days for a limited number of participants.
According to Wyn Vogel of Fish Lane Studios, the aim of the residency program is to continue bringing high quality artists across a range of genres to the Sunshine Coast as well as to showcase local artists and their work to the world.
“Our goal in inviting Yuko to the Sunshine Coast, is to showcase the beauty of the region to the international art world to entice them to create something unique with their creative skills inspired by our location and scenery,” Vogel says. “The Sunshine Coast has a thriving arts and cultural community and their opportunities are limitless in a world which craves new and innovative thinking and design. Our program aims to inspire and expand the horizons of current and future generations of artists.”
