Things are set to get a little wild in Brisbane this weekend, when New Zealand filmmaker, Taika Waititi and actor Julian Dennison arrive at Event Cinemas Garden City for the Australian Premiere of Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

Starring Sam Neill, Julian Dennison and Rhys Darby, Hunt for the Wilderpeople is the hotly anticipated new film from New Zealand filmmaker and comedian Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows, Boy, currently directing Thor: Ragnarok). With Waititi’s signature humour, the film stars Julian Dennison (Paper Planes) and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, The Daughter) as an odd couple on the run in the New Zealand wilderness.

The Australian Premiere will be held on Sunday 22 May at Event Cinemas Garden City 3.30pm, with wilderness to hunt through in the foyer, heaps of food and a photo booth.

Director, writer and New Zealand legend Taika Waititi and loveable New Zealand actor Julian Dennison (aka bad egg Ricky Baker) will also appear for an exclusive Q&A following the film.

The film was selected to screen at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and smashed New Zealand box office records when it was released across the ditch this March. It was number 1 at the New Zealand Box office for three weeks and currently sits at number 3 after six weeks – having made more at the box office than Deadpool and outperforming Star Wars: The Force Awakens at some sites across the country.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople will officially be released in cinemas May 26.
