Ambassador of cult movies Kristian Fletcher will pay tribute to Marilyn Monroe this month, with a ’20s jazz afternoon and a screening of Some Like It Hot at New Farm Cinemas.

Held on Saturday 28 May, the event will celebrate screen goddess and pop culture icon, Marilyn Monroe’s 90th birthday (which is actually on 1 June).

The evening will kick off at 3:30pm with live jazz music and performances by local talent.

Keeping in line with the theme of the movie, patrons are encouraged to dress in their best ’20s outfits – think fringe flapper dresses and feather boas, ladies!

Then, Some Like It Hot will kick off at 4:30pm!

Acting alongside Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, Some Like It Hot is a classic 1959 comedy and often named one of the funniest movies of all time.

When two musicians witness a mob hit, they flee the state in an all-female band disguised as women. Along the way, they meet Sugar Kane — played deliciously by Ms Monroe.

So come along and “celebrate the mark Marilyn Monroe has left on popular culture,” Kristian says.
