International comedy superstars will flock to Brisbane Powerhouse this month, for the 17th annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow.
Held on Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 May, the festival will see comedians; Pajama Men, Bob Franklin, Rachel Berger, Xavier Michelides and Sean Choolburra perform their acts for Brisbane audiences.
This year’s MC, Bob Franklin says he’s excited to be hosting one of Brisbane’s most prominent comedy events of the year.
“I am so excited about performing at Brisbane Powerhouse. This will be the first time for me. I love performing with Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow as we always get big crowds, and this line-up is one you don’t want to miss!”
Bob Franklin is an award-winning comedian, writer, director, author and actor. Some of his greatest comedy achievements include appearances in Please Like Me (2013-15), Worst Year of My Life Again (2014), Talking ’bout Your Generation (2010-12) and Thank God You’re Here (2006-09).
The world-renowned, Barry Award-winning sketch superstars Pajama Men will return to Australia, this year! Drawing on their huge catalogue of classic bits, some new material and endless improvised tangents, the Pajama Men will create an anarchic night of jubilant and inventive comedy.
Once of Australia’s favourite stand-up comedians, Rachel Berger will also perform. The high public profile has done much to establish the position of women in comedy, providing a distinctive voice for women’s opinions and viewpoints.
Since emigrating from Perth to Melbourne, Xavier Michelides has been an active stand-up comedian, writer and performer. He has performed in ten Melbourne International Comedy Festivals, three Melbourne Fringes, two Adelaide Fringes, three Perth Fringe Worlds, two Perth International Comedy Festivals and one Sydney Comedy Festival. This year, he’ll entertain audiences with one of his hilarious acts.
The festival will also see one of Australia’s top indigenous entertainers, Sean Choolburra has carved his niche as Since winning the NSW Raw Comedy final in 2002, Sean has gone on to prove himself as a comedian, rapper, dancer, storyteller, actor & hip-hop didgeridoo player.
