The Maleny Wood Expo will celebrate its 20th Anniversary with three days of clean country fun at the Maleny Showgrounds, over the Labour Day weekend.
Held on Saturday 30 April to Monday 2 May, the expo is designed to promote sustainable use of native Australian timbers through the work of local and regional wood artisans.
This year, the expo will see an array of hand-crafted products by furniture-makers, toy-makers, musical instruments and box-makers and whittlers and carvers, as well as live demonstrations by chainsaw carvers and woodwork experts and live entertainment by local talent.
During the event, you can check out the skills of the timber cutters who opened up the region and catch up with the very best in hand-crafted traditional and high tech tools.
If you’re an aspiring wood artisan why not ask the experts for their advice and get an insight into the world of timber?
The expo will also see hands-on woodwork activities for the whole family to enjoy, with WoodShed Workshops including spoon carving and stool making classes, Woodwork for Women and a creative space for kids to experience the delights of getting their hands in the sawdust and taking home their own masterpiece.
There’s something for the green thumbs too, with native plants to purchase, a weed basket weaving class and natural resource management displays.
While you’re there why not join in on the Monster Expo Raffle for your chance to win some incredible prizes, including artworks by local Maleny artists, a chainsaw, tools, hand-crafted timber items and heaps more?
So pull up a hay bale sometime between Saturday 30 April and Monday 2 May and take in what the Maleny Wood Expo has to offer! There’s great food, great entertainment and fun for the whole family!
