Go to jail, go directly to jail, for a night at the movies that you’ll never forget.
They say every man has his breaking point.
Well, cult cinema guru Kristian Fletcher might have found his, because he’s just announced his wackiest events so far.
The infamous Brisbane institution that is Boggo Road Goal will play host to Prison Movie Nights, a regular program of films about prisons, to be watched inside a prison.
Each Prison Movie Night will include markets, a jail art show, and a tour of the prison with an ex-prisoner, concluding with a classic prison or gangster movie.
Four screenings have been announced so far, and they’re all absolute crackers:
Fri 29 April — The Great Escape (1963)
Fri 27 May — Brubaker (1980)
Thu 2 June — Miller’s Crossing (1990)
Fri 10 June — Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Tickets will set you back $15 per person for the movie, or $35 per person for the movie and prison tour.
Yes, that’s right — Fletcher’s going to lock you up in prison, and you’re going to pay him for the privilege. But just think how much you’ll appreciate your freedom afterwards!
Tours will start at 6:30pm, with movies screening from 7:30pm. Get busy living or get busy booking at boggoroadgaol.com.
