If you’ve got one free night in the lead up to Christmas – and let’s be honest it probably is only one night – then South Bank is the place to be to get your fill of all things festive!
Start your merry making at The Courier-Mail Piazza and sing-along to your favourite festive tunes at the South Bank Christmas Carols presented by Hillsong Brisbane. With a mix of traditional carols and a few that have been given a modern twist, this family friendly event will delight young and old.
The doors open at 5.45pm so you can get a great seat, with the concert commencing at 6.45pm for four nights from 17 to 20 December.
Arrive earlier in the afternoon for an alfresco dinner at one of the many restaurants and cafes in the Parklands or on Little Stanley Street, or munch on yuletide snacks from South Bank’s Christmas Markets presented by eatSouthBank.
Stallholders will tempt you and the kids with everything from gourmet cheese and crackers to delicious sweets, fudge, eggnog and iced tea. Yum!
You can stop by the markets anytime between 11am and 8pm from December 11 to 23.
Hang about a little longer between 17 and 21 December, when markets operate until 9pm.
If you’d rather chill by the pool than tra-la-la with the crowd, then check out the Christmas Cinema Series at Streets Beach. Presenting a program of Christmas films nightly at 6.30pm from 17 to 23 December, you can cool your heels in the water or snuggle up on the beach while reminiscing with classics including Home Alone, Elf, Fred Claus and Arthur Christmas.
Late night revellers can double-down with a second screening at 8.30pm between 17 and 21 December.
When your hearts are full of cheer, wander down to the river front for the Christmas Fireworks Spectacular presented by go via network! Set to light up the sky at 8.15pm from 17 to 21 December, the fireworks will dazzle you with their choreographed explosions of colour, set to a soundtrack of Christmas tunes.
