Claire Ogden is vivacious, lovable and always beaming a beautiful, big smile.
She’s on a mission to make her audiences smile too when she presents her whacky life story in The Circus Claire Show at Brisbane Powerhouse on 12 December.
The Circus Claire Show is an actioned-packed solo circus show being presented as part of the Wonderland festival.
“There is a lot more to my show than just circus tricks,” says Claire who studied drama at Queensland University of Technology.
She has already gained some invaluable stage and street performance experience but says she has now found her niche as a circus artist. Claire’s show is 45 minutes of circus fun incorporating hula hoops, juggling, acrobatics, physical comedy, dance and a decent serving of the ridiculous.
“There is something so wonderfully genuine about circus. Circus is a celebration of ingenuity and mastery. I draw on my theatre training to incorporate narrative, humour and character in my show,” she says.
Brisbane Powerhouse sure knows how to kick up its heels when it comes to end-of-year partying. Not only does this year’s Wonderland take over the indoor stages, the festival also spills onto the spacious outdoor greens beside the Brisbane River at New Farm.
Night food markets, outdoor performance tents and a variety of burlesque, circus, cabaret and comedy are all the rage.
The Circus Claire Show plays 12 December at Brisbane Powerhouse at 6pm. Wonderland runs until 20 December. For more info visit www.brisbanepowerhouse.org.
