If you love optimistic British comedians and long-term planning, we’ve got good news for you — Russell Howard is coming back to Brisbane in 2017.
Howard, one of the UK’s most successful live comedians, will bring his new live show, Round the World, to Australia in a couple of years.
After completely selling out his Wonderbox tour in 2014, Howard — known for his refreshingly positive and whimsical take on life and current events — will bring this new show to Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney in July of 2017. (Of course, it won’t be that new by the time he gets here.)
To put this into perspective, the gap between now and the show is longer than 71 per cent of modern engagements.
To put it another way, we don’t know the title of the eighth Star Wars film, set to be released in May of 2017, but we do know that comedian Russell Howard will be playing a show called Round the World at QPAC Concert Hall two months after that.
Here’s that date again, if you want to put it in your calendar now:
To be fair, a Russell Howard stand-up show does warrant a bit of fuss — the immensely popular Wonderbox tour saw Howard entertain 285,000 fans at 40 shows across the UK and Ireland, and in London alone, he played four shows at the Royal Albert Hall, two shows at the O2 Arena and one show at Wembley Arena.
We’d normally only list the Brisbane details here, but since there’s no guarantee you’ll be living here in July of 2017, we should probably list all the Oz dates:
Hamer Hall, Melbourne — Friday 7 July, 2017
QPAC Concert Hall, Brisbane — Monday 10 July, 2017
Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide — Thursday 13 July, 2017
Riverside Theatre, Perth — Saturday 15 July, 2017
Enmore Theatre, Sydney — Wednesday 19 July, 2017
Howard’s next Australian tour may be a couple of years away, but you’ll need to start planning for it now, because tickets go on sale at 10am (local time) on Tuesday 24 November. My Live Nation members can score tickets early during the pre-sale beginning at 10am (local time) this Friday 20 November. For tickets, visit livenation.com.au.
