Brisbane’s favourite purveyors of frenetic rock and pop The Grates are set to headline Bulimba Festival’s Lunch on the Lawn event this November!

Every year the Bulimba Festival attracts people from all over the world with exciting events that showcase the different aspects of life in Bulimba.

This year the Bulimba Festival will run for a whole week from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 November, featuring movie nights, markets, pet parades, art installations and of course their most popular event Lunch on the Lawn with The Grates being the headline performance.

Bursting out of the garages and backyards of Brisbane with scraped knees and larger than life sound, The Grates and their DIY ethos have always mischievously disturbed the quiet. Their debut album Gravity Won’t Get Your High (2006) was a renegade hit in a scene dominated by overnight pop stars and steadfast rockers.

The two LPs that followed, Teeth Lost, Hearts Won (2008) and Secret Rituals (2011) followed suit with top 10 ARIA Chart debuts, J Award and AMP Award nominations.

In November 2014, The Grates released their fourth album Dream Team and recently took it on the road with sell out shows around the country and a much talked about set at Splendour in the Grass.

No doubt they’ll blow Brisbane audiences away with their performance at Lunch on the Lawn!

Held in Memorial Park, Oxford Street on Sunday 15 November, the event will also see performances by local artists Greg Chaipello, Eden Mulholland, Avaberee, Halfway and Cheap Fakes.
