Westfield Garden City shopping centre with the courtesy of the MacGregor’s Lions Club will be hosting an ‘art extravaganza’ from the 6th of July that will showcase over 270 paintings from 120 local residents.

Whilst the majority of artists will be from the Greater Brisbane Region but will also be boasting artworks from resident living in the Gold and Sunshine coast, Norther and Wester Queensland, along with other arts from New South Wales, Victoria, and the Northern Territory.

Art aficionados will be able to enjoy the various styles and skill of Queensland art scene as there will be artworks on land and seascapes, portraits, still life, abstract, wildlife, multimedia and more.

Artist will also be competing with each-other with a cash prize up to $6,500 in categories in oils/acrylic, watercolour, pastels and mixed media, as well as a special category for the best artistic depiction of Westfield Garden City shopping centre.

A raffle will also be held and once drawn, the lucky ticket holder will be able to enjoy the work of Calamvale artist Jeff Dittmann, who has kindly donated a piece of his artwork valued at $1000.

All of the artwork will be for sale with the MacGregors Lions Club receiving a commission to continue their support and provided funding for their main beneficiary, Multicap at Eight Mile Plains.

The Artwork prices will vary, but they start as low as $175 and the majority of artwork for sale will be valued at $750 or less.

Peter Russo MP, the State Member for Sunnybank will be representing the Queensland Premier and Minister for The Arts and alongside key stakeholders will officially open Art Extravaganza at 7pm Monday 6 July.

All visitors to Westfield Garden City during the two week Art Extravaganza may vote for a painting in the Public Choice contest.

One of those entering will receive a $500 discount on the artwork of their choice.

Persons wishing to attend the Official Opening may do so, but must book a $15 reservation by emailing Art Extravaganza Chairman Ken Mulcahy at ken.mulcahy@outlook.com no later than Saturday 4 July.
