If you saw the reaction of the Filipino community after Manny Pacquiao’s defeat on the weekend, you’d have to admit — no matter who you were backing — the Philippines is home to a people with a lot of heart. Join the Brisbane community this Philippines Independence day and celebrate the country’s rich and diverse cultural heritage!

This June, come together with the Brisbane-Philippines community and celebrate our South-East Asian neighbours in the Philippines at the Rocklea Showgrounds on Sunday 7 June!

The Barrio Fiesta in Brisbane is a lively day dedicated to celebrating the Filipino culture and is a day for all lovers of the country’s dispersed culture.

Bigger and better than last year’s celebrations, the 2015 fiesta is sure to be a fantastic event with more presentations, competitions and other activities which will showcase the Philippine culture and talents.

Among the days activities will be  ‘Faces of the Century’, a competition where participants prepare presentations portraying a certain historic event in the Philippines.

There will also be plenty of opportunities for traditional Philippines sport and games at ‘Palarong Pinoy’.

The festival will mark the Philippines’ 117th year of independence.
