La Boite Theatre Company and Julia Rose-Lewis launch their exciting new Artist-in-residence project Samson this April featuring a plethora of recognisable Australian talent.

It’s a theatre event you won’t want to miss.

Penned by one of Queensland’s brightest new playwrights, Julia Rose-Lewis, with direction from internationally-acclaimed direction Kristine Landon-Smith, Samson is a brutal and completely raw insight into the lives of young Australian’s.  

Lewis originally developed Samson back in 2013 while she was La Boite’s Artist-in-Residence, a program that promotes the development of new works from artists from a range of distinct cultural backgrounds.

La Boite Artistic Director Todd MacDonald is committed to bringing diverse actors to the Roundhouse stage, thus also making their Brisbane stage debut’s are rising star Ashleigh Cummins (Puberty Blues, Tomorrow When the War Began, Gallipoli), and Benjamin Creek (Graduate of Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts).

Through it’s 90 years, MacDonald believes that La Boite has successfully “provided a platform for distinctive new Queensland voices”.

Samson tells the tale of Essie, Beth and Sid in small-town Queensland and their journey into adulthood, with the challenges that comes with that territory.
